Farewell, my tooth.

31 12 2006

It all started when I told CJ ‘The right side of my face is fatter than the left!!’ because I thought my wisdom tooth is swelling.

So CJ brought me to see his dad for a consult. Last wednesday after the x-ray, he said it wasn’t about my wisdom tooth but because of a cavity. So alright… he said he might have to extract a tooth because… actually I can’t remember, but it’s to do with the cavity and too much teeth and because I HAVE A CLASS 3 JAW!!!

Sounds so low class right!!! Class 3 jaw!! Wah lau. I thought how nice it would be if I had a first class jaw… now I only have economy. :(

Anyway yesterday I saw Dr. H and she recommended I remove two ‘number 4s’.

Then they whipped me off to x-ray again.

Then back at CJ’s dad’s office he asked me ‘So when do you start school again?’

‘In a week’s time’

‘Hm… I don’t suppose you’ll want to start school with braces?’

‘Huh?’

I can’t really remember what happened next… I think I flinched when I got injected with the local anesthetic. Then filling the cavity.

Then the silver metallic thing which kinda reminded me of the metal instument CJ and I saw at Ikea which he jokingly remarked ‘This is what they are going to extract your teeth with!’. I think it was some wine bottle opener.

I gripped CJ’s hand so hard he later told me my nails were digging into his hands.

All I could remember thinking at the moment was ‘Oh my god my tooth is getting extracted and he is supposed to be supportive BUT HE IS STILL READING THE MAGAZINE!!!!’

To be fair, he was holding my hand while reading the magazine.

Anyway, I think it was really funny after the anesthetic, I had to rinse my mouth. Because one side of my mouth was already numb (‘like marshmellow!’ CJ said), when I expelled the water from my mouth, it came out drolling from the left hand side.

I was shocked for a while cause I thought ‘What, did they inject a hole through my mouth or what’. Then I realised I had not much feeling on the left side of my lips.

The rest of the day (okay half of the day) I walked around Plaza Singapura looking like this.

dsc00073.JPG

‘People are staring at me’ I whispered more than once to CJ.

‘You should remove the gauze, it’s not bleeding much anymore’ he replied more than once.

But I can’t, cause after a while it feels comforting. And without the gauze I feel quite vulnerable… and empty inside.

Anyway! I’m glad that when I messaged my friends about the braces, most of the reaction has been ‘But your teeth are straight!’ :D I guess the braces are more for dental health than cosmetic. I needed to align the bottom and the top teeth, or else I can’t bite properly. And when I can’t bite properly, I use the back molars to bite, and this causes lots of food to be stuck at the back. And cavities.

And maybe I’ll be thinner! Cause I think I will eat less with braces on. And also, maybe my jawline will look thinner. Yay!

Anyway, proof! That my teeth are actually quite straight. :D

Lying is the most fun a girl can have without taking her clothes off

28 12 2006

I’ve been listening it to it on repeat.

Is it still me that makes you sweat?
Am I who you think about in bed?
When the lights are dim and your hands are shaking as you’re sliding off your dress?
Then think of what you did
And how I hope to God he was worth it.
When the lights are dim and your heart is racing as your fingers touch your skin.
I’ve got more wit, a better kiss, a hotter touch, a better f*ck
Than any boy you’ll ever meet, sweetie you had me
Girl I was it, look past the sweat, a better love deserving of
Exchanging body heat in the passenger seat?
No, no, no, you know it will always just be me

‘Sweetie you had me’ always reminds me of CJ, cause he calls me that sometimes. (Without saying ‘you had me’, of course)

Selfless updates

28 12 2006

Hi.

In this post, I’ve decided not to be selfish, and not write about myself in this post.

Earthquake in Taiwan, therefore underground cables are affected. Internet’s been really laggy lately. It’s kind of sad how I’m only interested in current affairs when it affects me. (Reminder: This entry is not about myself!!)

It has been raining like crazy for the past few days, no weeks, actually. Thinking back, the short spells of normal sunny days we had during the camp is a very lucky break. It’s been crazy weather these few days… To risk sounding like a schizo, I kinda like the weather. It’s perfect ‘laze at home bundled up in a sweater watching a dvd and eating chocolates’ weather. The umbrella has found a permanent place in my bag. And (this entry is not about me!!!) the weather looks set to be like that for the next few days.

Erm, there are a lot of sales going on in the shops.

Okay end of updates that are not about me.

Merry blah blah

26 12 2006

Okay, greetings and wishes etc. Hope everyone has been good this year and received great presents… I mean blessings. Presents are for materialistic people. :P

Christmas was great. Was out with CJ at his auntie’s Christmas dinner. I am never very good at the whole ‘mingle with new friends’ situations, but his extended family was very friendly and engaging. I was kind of thrown off though, when one of his uncles asked me ‘Are you from Thailand?’

Huh?

Exactly. Anyway, it was nice. Again, I got lost on AYE and ended up at Tuas. AGAIN. I think it is the 4th or 5th time. This has got to stop. Exit at Jurong Town Hall. Exit at Jurong Town Hall. Exit at Jurong Town Hall!!!!

I also think I should become a personal assistant / secretary of sorts for CJ. He totally forgot about a Christmas eve party, and when they called, he told them ‘Chris is sick… got to take care of her’ So unfair!!! :/ I don’t want them to think I’m stealing CJ away…

Anyway, thank you for being so patient with me. :D

My tooth has been bothering me for the past few days. It was so bad that I’m actually having headaches on my right. I thought it was my wisdom tooth, but I’m a little leary about removing it. Never liked going to the dentist. Anyway, it just so happens that CJ’s dad is a dental surgeon. And he offered to look at my tooth.

The truth is – Since young, I have been scared of any trips to the dentist!

When I was in primary 2, I woke up one morning to find one side of my mouth bleeding. Scared to death, I went to the toilet to check. One of my tooth was coming out. I didn’t know what to do, and I was too afraid to pull it out with my fingers. So… I closed my mouth, aimed at the direction the wobbly tooth was. And I punched myself in the face.

I kid you not.

Okay in case you think I’m out of my mind, I’m not. I did not really punch myself in the face… it more like a … light punch.

But really. I’m very grateful and I really appreciate the fact that he is so busy, yet makes time to see me. And he is really very good. Partially because of the fact that he said my wisdom tooth is okay, so maybe I don’t need to extract! Hurrah!

The bad news is that I have a cavity on my molar. So maybe they will have to extract that, cause I have too much teeth. Or something like that. But for now, it is covered with some white plaster thing and the pain is gone! Hurrah!

Anyway, an abrupt change of topic!

Buddy’s new buddy (heh heh snicker) … Bobby!

Why are there so many songs about rainbows?

20 12 2006

Why are there so many songs about rainbows
And what’s on the other side?
Rainbows are visions, but only illusions,
And rainbows have nothing to hide.
So we’ve been told and some choose to believe it
I know they’re wrong, wait and see.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
The lovers, the dreamers and me.Who said that every wish would be heard and answered
when wished on the morning star?
Somebody thought of that
and someone believed it,
and look what it’s done so far.
What’s so amazing that keeps us stargazing?
And what do we think we might see?
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.

All of us under its spell,
we know that it’s probably magic….

Have you been half asleep
and have you heard voices?
I’ve heard them calling my name.
Is this the sweet sound that calls the young sailors?
The voice might be one and the same.
I’ve heard it too many times to ignore it.
It’s something that I’m supposed to be.
Someday we’ll find it, the rainbow connection,
the lovers, the dreamers and me.
La, la la, La, la la la, La Laa, la la, La, La la laaaaaaa

Overdue

20 12 2006

Updated because I don’t like to forget.

Death Note – I liked it, L is exactly like in the comic! I heard a couple of girls squealing about him after the movie, which made me think ‘Was I like that?’. I liked it better than I thought I would and I am looking forward to Death Note 2! :D

You Me and Dupree – Just alright. Meh. Can’t remember.

Sinking of Japan – CJ wanted to watch this because – hey disaster, boom, people screaming. It was alright. Very Armageddon-ish. Anyway this is like the first movie I’ve watched where the girl says ‘Let’s make love’ and the guy says ‘No’. Poor girl. Must be traumatised and questioning her sexual attractiveness.

The OH in Ohio – Very good. I liked it like the way I liked Transamerica. Very real and … unapologetic. (Weird word choice, I know) Although… Danny Devito as a love match? Hoookay. Anyway, I really liked Mischa Barton’s Harvard T-shirt.

Dead or Alive – Ha! I wanted to watch this because – hey, hot chicks. It’s alright. Good for an afternoon of mindless fun and fluff. Although I always rag on Devon Aoki (weird face blah blah blah), I think she is really cool in a ‘I-don’t-give-a-damn’ way. And I kind of want to be like her. Sort of.

Casino Royale – I take back everything I’ve said about Daniel Craig! He plays Bond perfectly! In fact, I think he might even be better than Pierce Brosnan! Anyway, random opinion – Pussy Galore… What kind of name is that?!?!?!

Tenacious D : The Pick of Destiny - Har har funny. But wah lau I don’t need to see both their asses.

Open Season – Alright. I think I’ve kinda gotten tired of the whole animal animation genre. I’ve been tired of it since ‘The Wild’. Except ‘Over the Hedge’, which ironically I didn’t watch.

Deck The Halls – I had such high hopes for this movie!!! And I am so let down. :( I thought the premise would be Danny Devito and Matthew Broderick trying to top each other in Xmas decorations. But it was kind of one sided. Chey. I really think my plot would have been so much better.

Happy Feet – I loved it! EXCEPT FOR THE ENDING!The ending is crap. And my favourite penguin (Do you know Sony Ericsson phones don’t spell Penguin? Yes!) is the rapper Baby Seymour -

fatfat.JPG

Fatfat. :D

Edit – I found the video on Youtube!!

I also listened to the original by Grandmaster Flash. I liked it.

Also, I found it mildly disturbing though, that adult penguin Gloria has breasts. Weird.

Deja Vu – Wasn’t interested in catching it initially, but CJ wanted to watch it. It was so good! Better than I’ve expected definitely. A bit convulated at times, and I had to ask CJ a lot of questions after that, but it was really good. The ‘did it happen because he has already did that or what?!!’ moments were kind of frustrating.

Eragon – I thought all the characters were underdeveloped. Not particularly exciting or anything.

The Holiday – I like it! I liked Kate and Jack’s side more… seems more realistic. And more real life, less Hollywood. And CJ’s favourite part? ‘I can’t believe I grazed your boob.’ :P

Happy Holidays

20 12 2006

Changed my template for xmas… I don’t like it as much as my old one, but thought I needed to get into the Christmas spirit. :D

Happy Holidays everyone!

Artfulnoon

19 12 2006

We spent the afternoon at the National Musuem… cause I wanted to catch Kurt Wenner in action!

dsc00225.JPG

He’s a street painter and he does 3D art. It’s gorgeous! When I told Lynnette about it, she was like ‘His spatial awareness must be very good!’ Well, at least our short stint at the education centre did us a bit of good. Heh.

I like his ‘Reflections‘ the best.

Suddenly, CJ went ‘Kurt?’

I immediately stiffened. What if he was those snobby artsy types? What if he said ‘Zees ees unacceptable! Aye weel NOT be deesturbed!’

Turns out he was very friendly, and CJ told him I went down specially to see him paint (or chalk-pastel cause that was the medium). ‘Have you looked through the lenses?’ he was asking. (There was this 3D lenses thingy that allows you to see it in perspective) Very nice guy.

Two idiots who were standing behind him (You can see them in the picture… a guy and a girl in black and white respectively) said rather loudly and stupidly ‘I think the hair should be longer’. *Rolls eyes* Blah blah blah. It’s not only disrespectful, it is ignorant. And rude.

Anyway, the rest of the day was fun :D

The skylight was really nice, so I attempted something I saw and wanted to try for a long time.

dsc00236.JPG

Hm. My forehead is quite flat.

Camp

19 12 2006

So I’m back from camp. On the first night of camp, I asked myself ‘Why the heck did I sign on for another year?!?! I have 35 mosquito bites, I haven’t had time to take a bath for the entire day, I’m icky about public toilets, I need at least 8 hours of sleep.’

Then I realised it was for the kids.

Anyway, random thoughts. I don’t normally like to write and update this way but lately I’ve found it hard to consolidate my thoughts.

  • CJ came down to give me some medicine for the bites, and also to pass me Buddy. :D
  • He called Mel, but it was missed call… Mel saw it about 10 minutes later and thought it was strange, so she passed her phone to me to call back. It was quite noisy over at the campfire, so CJ can’t really hear my voice. However, I could clearly hear what he said – ‘Mel? Mel? This is CJ. I’m coming down to pass Chris a surprise. Don’t tell her! Hello?’
  • During sentry duty at 6am, one of the threads on Buddy’s mouth came out and now he looks like he has a moustache. I took a safety pin out to try to stuff the thread back. Across the table, Weisiong thought I was going to ’sew clothes’ for Buddy.
  • On Monday, I slathered my legs with insect repellant, pasted a mosquito patch, carried a portable mosquito coil holder and at the end of the day I ended up with about 20 mosquito bites.
  • Alan and his tiger balm is my new best friend.
  • When I helped Mel wash the hotdogs for outdoor cooking, one of the hotdogs slid out of my hands into the sink. Mel started laughing like it was the funniest thing ever, and soon after we were both laughing like mad.
  • Watching the kids do the high element rope climb, I was struck by how determined and presevering they are. I watched as this mentee K, walked across the rope slowly, nearly tripping more than once. His shoes were torn and breaking apart, but he continued and completed it to the cheering of the people who were watching him.
  • On Sunday night Caleb, Phillson and I sat in the canal at Bukit Batok with a mosquito coil holder, a poncho and 4 lightsticks. We were eating super rings and talking. Just another Sunday night.
  • Caleb was biten alive by sandflies as he played dead and me and Phillson went – ‘Are you okay?’ *kick slap ‘wake up!’ *pokes in stomach as the kids watch on.
  • I was kidding with Maurice and Doris that I wanted a special dinner and when they got back with dinner for the camp crew I found that my packet rice has the words ‘Bai Tui (White thigh… presumably white chicken thigh or something like that)’ specially written on it. Heh.
  • Asked Mel to choose one word for the Calligraphy game… Her choice ‘RAT’… Somehow I thought that was the funniest thing ever. :D
  • I’m also glad the issue was solved… kind of. I think it was quite obvious there was a slight problem (or was it us being too sensitive?) and this camp I think all of us made an effort to be more … interactive. Haha. I’m glad.
  • I hope the fact I wore glasses and zero make up for three entire days answered any queries about me being vain. Haha! The only substance I used on my face was clear lip moisturiser and face moisturiser okay!

Alright blah blah. End of recap or something like that. Favourite photo, precamp.

8 milks a-maid-ing

19 12 2006

My line was ‘8 Maids a-milking’ and I kept singing ‘8 Milks a-maiding’. Haha. Then they wanted us to do actions so me and Caleb were semi horrified at the idea of the action.

But as you can see… everyone thought it was hilarious. :D

This year’s afterglow was so much better!
