Coming Soon!

29 04 2006

May is coming! All the good summer movies! I wanna watch -

  • The Da Vinci Code (I reread the book to prep myself!)
  • Aquamarine (SAM SHU HUI!!!)
  • The Wild / Over the Hedge (Replaceable – prefer Hedge cause got tortoise and porcupine)
  • M:I III (Tom Cruise is a goon. I’m just watching this for Maggie Q)
  • Poseidon (Isn’t this the story some author wrote before the Titanic happened? Not sure)
  • X-Men (Aaron Stanford as Pyro! He’s hot! Pun fully intended)
  • The Devil Wears Prada (I can’t wait to see the wardrobe… but Sept!!!)
  • Thank You For Smoking (Katie pre Scie*tology brainwashing)
  • Pirates of the Caribbean (Johnny Depp)

Cars, Superman etc. I wonder if anyone would watch Lie With Me with me.

And books I wanna get

Edit – This is hilarious! GoFugYourself on Tom Cruise

Take the lead, Daisy

29 04 2006

!!! I can't believe that I just typed something like that! It's so corny.

Anyway, bad stuff (see previous entry) aside, last couple of days were quite good. Oh who am I kidding, I'm still pissed off at the stealers. I hope they trip and fall face first onto a porcupine.

Anyway, watched Take The Lead and Daisy (a nicer official site).

daisyposter.jpg

I like this poster better than the ones they use in the cinema.

Have I mentioned daisies are my favourite flowers? (Only like a thousand times) But yes, they are. I was a little skeptical about this movie though the title alone should have grabbed me. Probably won't have watched it if E hadn't asked so anyway.

It was so nice! I didn't cry (though I wanted to) but it is so sad. It's actually the first Korean movie I've watched… It's such a beautiful story. The daisy guy is so sweet, I mean, if a guy builds a bridge for you it's like really sweet right? And learns how to read lips so he can understand you. He's cute, but sometimes his two front teeth distracts me. He's almost too adorable to be a killer.

I thought the girl's hair in the show was gorgeous. She's pretty in a fresh, pure kind of way. And now I sound like a pervert. Haha. Anyway, I loved the movie. I quite liked the ending when it flashes back to three of them at the bus stop. Kind of like a moment in time before everything started.

I think my favourite line is 'You've made me so happy' - in its simplicity it carries a lot of meaning.

dulainemorgane.jpg

It seems Cher and I always watch dancing movies… haha. I wanna learn ballroom dancing. The Dulaine and Morgane dance was hot! I have a newfound crush on Antonio Banderas. I thought Yaya did great in the movie. Argh, she should have won ANTM3… she's so much better than Eva. Oh oh… I thought the redhead guy was quite cute. Hehe.

Guys should always open doors for girls. :)

Don’t understand

27 04 2006

Someone stole my camera today.

I’m trying to be angry, but I’m am just really really really upset.

I miss my camera. It’s dumb to put feelings on inanimate objects but I can’t help feeling that way.

I hope the thieves have their faces put on a porcupine.

525600 minutes

25 04 2006

is one year.

rent.jpg

I caught Rent with Sam! It rhymes! At where else… Cathay Cineplex. It's becoming a favourite cinema cause the seats are comfy.

Rent is very good. I haven't seen the stage version yet so I'm totally unbiased. I absolutely loved the movie! (Until this little bit at the end, which I'll elaborate later) I love all of the songs, especially Out tonight, La Vie Boheme, I'll Cover You, Seasons of Love. Everything! Angel's Today 4 U is so cute, I love it. And one can't help but feel like dancing to La Vie Boheme.

Favourite line (Mimi sings)-

There's only us, there's only this. Forget regret, or life is yours to miss.

Then the rest chorused in -

No other road, no other way…no day but today.

Perfection.

Absolutely everything. It's so beautiful. I can't specifically pin point why it's so good, maybe it's the cinematography… It kind of, draws you into their world. So for about 180 minutes, you're lost in their world. They lived.

And Mimi looks exactly like Coryn from ANTM! It's uncanny! (Rosario/Coryn)
rdrent.jpgbio_pic_coryn.jpg

Anyway, the movie was very nicely done. Angel's death was emotional, but not maudlin.

I loved the movie until

**SPOILERS AHEAD**

Mimi did the whole died then sees the light and come back to life scenario. Did the storyline has to be like that? It's too cliche!

A week’s worth

23 04 2006

A fast one before I go tackle the Strat*ech case and Philip v Rem*ington (if they had just patented the whole thing rather than to go for trademarks we would have saved so much time)

Out last week with don't-you-think-I-have-a-brilliant-smile to shop (him, not me) and we went to Balcony! It was fun cause I got to drink the Chocolate mint martini which is yummy! Martini and some other stuff with melted chocolate! I love. It's my new favourite drink. I wonder if they have it anywhere else, cause I wanna drink it again :D We met Hui there too! Anyway, later went to Peranakan Place to check out Ice Cold Beer (and passing by Li-Shun/Shun-Li. Whatever, shops shouldn't put chinese words cause people won't know how which side to read it from). It has quite a nice atmosphere, and I gather guys would love it because of (1) Beer (2) Posters of pin up girls (3) Live soccer. In fact, in the absence of (1) and (2), (3) would still be a huge draw, I gather.

Also went out with E to watch Eight Below. It's better than I expected (which isn't much, to be honest) Paul Walker can act better than I think he can. And the dogs! I have a newfound love for Huskies. I hated how the whole story line totally forgot about the other dog that died out in the wilderness. That was quite mean.

Oh oh!! The new Cathay Cineplex is so nice! I love the old world facade… and the elevators inside. Haha. Anyway, it's very theatre like – I mean, they actually ushered us to our seats. Haha… It's so… superfluous, but it's different, I guess.

Oh photo! From Sam's flickr of last Thursday at Velvet. The first time I wore a long sleeved top to club. Never again… it's so hot! Note we are in coordinating black tops. He he.

Yayyyy! First and last paper tomorrow and I'm going shoppingggggggggggggg!!! I wanna get an alice band, like what Paris H. wore at some basketball game. I don't know how she made a Lakers jersey look so nice. Maybe I should start wearing my old one, but the arm holes are so damn huge. Haha. I don't like her, but damn I love her style. Sometimes anyway.

Omg, isn't this the most ironic thing ever invented? Peanut + my surname.

What study?

15 04 2006

What exam paper? Haha. I shouldn’t be too cocky.

A couple of stuff to talk about.

The Producers was a great movie! I quite liked how the movie itself has all the ingredients for a ‘flop’ but it works, exactly like the play in the show ‘Springtime for Hitler’. So it’s like a movie in a movie, just that it’s kind of more subtle. YS was saying how they get away with all the outrageous and non politically correct and sensitive jokes just because it’s a comedy and I agree! Homosexuality, Nazis, crass sexual references and all that – So ‘Springtime for Hitler’! Carmen Ghia was my favourite character. =) Also the reference to Franz Kafka’s The Metamorphosis ‘”As Gregor Samsa awoke one morning after disturbing dreams, he found himself transformed in his bed into an giant cockroach” Nah, it’ll never work, it’s too brilliant’. Loved the film; I laughed from the start to the end.

Dinner at Essential Brew was really good! I think everyone should go try the Tofu Steak. I love the mushrooms… and we asked for a seperate serving of rosti. They normally only serve it with the beef steak, but if you ask, they will serve just the rosti. That’s good, cause at least they are flexible enough to do that. The rosti is so good! I never liked the Marche type rosti… it’s too thick and a little tasteless. The rosti at Essential Brew is really thin and crispy. Really yummy!

Incident at the Central Library. Went to refill Ade’s and my water bottle at the rest area. You know how water coolers are at this awkward height, so the taps are like situated at the height of your knees so you have to bend down to refill the bottle. And at that position your butt sticks out like… something… I don’t know. So I was bent down at this awkward position when this person walked to stand beside me. I was annoyed (cause of the position and how come you have to stand so close) so I looked up to shoot the person a dirty look. Surprise surprise, he was cute. He backed off a little, but later I became very self conscious cause of the bloody ass sticking out position. And then from the corner of my eye I saw him lean back on the pillar facing me. It is so awkward. Anyway, that’s about it.. nothing interesting. Heh.

Velvet and Phuture with Sam and YS and some other people on Thursday. You know the last time I went to Zouk pre-MOS days on the eve of a public holiday, it was so packed you could hardly breathe. Now it’s so empty (at least until 1230) it’s not even funny. So we hung out at Velvet a little first. I saw the staff come in with like 3 trays of shots and a couple of jugs and was thinking ‘Wow that must be a really alcoholic table’… until the staff set the 3 trays down on our table. I think I was google-eyed for a while. The fire in mouth thing was insane! Haha. Anyhoo Phuture perked up a bit later, and it was quite fun. Same old pick up stories, but the funny thing (as mentioned in Sam’s blog) was the fact that after we brushed them off we found ourselves given this wide berth thing. Like after the guys left, there was this really huge area around us that is empty. Hur. A bit weird. Haha. Thinking back, I can’t believe I did the ‘drop it like it’s hot’ thing. Hahaha… and forced them to do similar. Oh I so wanna check out Thumper but it’s so packed… Is it true the staff there are called Thumperinas? I think I heard it from somewhere.

I suddenly remembered something I never blogged about … when Mel, Hui and I were at MOS the last time. We noticed this really good dancer guy at the R&B place, and he was quite cute. Seriously, I love the way he dances. So anyway, Mel went up the guy (he was on the podium thingy) and asked him to come down to dance with me! Hahaha… I swear, it’s ‘retribution’ for the last time I did it to her at Club Momo. Anyway he did but he wasn’t half as good a dance partner as he is dancing alone. Or maybe he just wasn’t interested. Haha. So I kind of told him nice dancing with you blah blah blah and left.

The litmus test

10 04 2006

Sometimes in conversations we come up with the weirdest stuff. Last week out of the blue some one brought up something I mentioned once… which was a spin off from what Chris told me about elasticity. It became the elasticity concept – I'm more attracted to a guy who is elastic that one who is not.

So Cher and I were talking last week about the litmus test Read the rest of this entry »

Another level

8 04 2006

Yesterday funloving/driven, gentlemanly/wellspoken and I (artsyfartsy/wellbalanced) had a long conversation at Munchie Monkeys. It’s the kind of long talks that sometimes culmulate in silence, not because we don’t know what to talk about, but because everything is sinking in slowly and profoundly. It feels like another level of friendship where you open yourself up and lay it there for your friends to scrutinise. And also the kind of talk that isn’t fluffly, but substantial.

I told them I’m sorry if I suddenly start babbling. Because this kind of substantial stuff I don’t deal well with. Surely, not wanting to be deeper and not being deeper are two different things, but I can deal with fluffy – it’s harder to deal with substantial. But still, if anything, it is comforting to know that you are not alone and people do feel the same.

You know, it’s easy to encapsule people in a word. Of course, it is a bit like stereotyping and everyone is more than just one word, people are complex. I find that as you grow to know a person more, it is harder to use just one word to describe them cause you know so much about them – too much about them to pigeonhole them.

No.

6 04 2006

I had this friend… I can't remember when we met already… Anyway, we are not really like close friends or anything, but we do talk a little now and then.

Out of boredom today I scrolled through my msn list… and saw his nick in the offline list; I haven't seen him online for some time. So I went to his blog to see how he was doing… And realised he passed away.

He was just in his 20s.

It's just -

I don't know what to say.
